Frequently asked questions
Do I need any experience to go hang gliding?
No. It is a tandem flight: you fly together with a certified instructor pilot who handles the takeoff, the flight and the landing. Before going up, your pilot explains everything you need to do.
How much does hang gliding in Rio cost?
R$ 1,200 paid in cash or Pix, or R$ 1,320 by credit card. The price includes all fees, transport to the ramp and photos and videos taken with a GoPro camera.
How long does the flight last?
It depends on the wind and the conditions of the day. The flight usually lasts 8 to 15 minutes, and the whole experience, from meeting on the beach to landing, takes about two hours.
Is there a weight limit for hang gliding?
Yes. The maximum passenger weight is 80 kg (176 lb), for safety and a good takeoff.
Can minors fly?
Yes, from age 14. Passengers aged 14 to 18 must bring an ID and come with their father or mother, who signs a liability waiver before the flight.
What is the best time of day to fly?
We fly every day whenever the weather allows. Mornings are usually best. Once you book, we check the forecast for your day and suggest the best time.
When do I pay?
On the day of your flight, in cash, by Pix or by credit card. On specific high-demand dates, we charge a booking fee to hold your place. If you need to cancel, the fee is refunded as long as you let us know at least 2 days in advance, so we can rearrange our schedule.
What if the weather is bad on the day?
We only fly in safe conditions. If the weather does not allow it, we move your flight to another day. If you paid a booking fee, it is refunded in full. Read our payment and cancellation policy.
How do I get my photos and videos?
The flight is filmed with an HD GoPro camera, and the photos and videos go straight to your phone right after landing.
What is the difference between hang gliding and paragliding?
On a hang glider you fly lying down, faster and with a strong feeling of freedom. Paragliding is slower and more contemplative, and you fly seated. Both take off from Pedra Bonita and land on São Conrado beach. Prefer paragliding? See our paragliding flights.
